Bailey Banks & Biddle was founded back in the day in the city of Philadelphia by two silversmiths who only owned $26 worth of jeweller’s tools when they started the business. Bailey & Kitchen, as the Company has once been known, was founded in 1832 and set among the heritage houses of the first settlers of Philadelphia. The Company has evolved over the centuries to turn into Bailey & Co. in 1841, and then into Bailey Banks & Biddle in 1878, building itself a reputation for outstanding quality, starting from fine workmanship in many metals and mediums to famous original designs to silver goods.
At the end of the 20th century the US Government has commissioned Bailey Banks & Biddle to modernize the Great Seal of the United States. This updated designed still remains the official version of the seal. Many of the military medals that in use to-day have been designed by the Company, including such medals as the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and, of course, the Medal of Honor.
A Texas- based company Zale Corporation that has taken over Bailey Banks & Biddle back in 1962 decided to take the reputable Philadelphia jeweler’s stores to consumers around the U.S. Eventually, Zale launched hundreds of Bailey Banks & Biddle stores in many cities, passing the tradition of customer service, quality, and knowledge to customers around the country.
